Protecting the environment is high on society’s agenda and print companies have a major role to play in making sure that our planet is sustainable for future generations. With the increasing demand for printed materials, it is important to ensure that we are doing our part to reduce their environmental impact. By using sustainable practices such as using recycled materials, reducing energy consumption, and reducing paper wastage, we can help make sure that our planet stays healthy and habitable for many years to come.
So how can we – at GKD print– play our part by minimising our own environmental impact?
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) Paper
FSC and PEFC are the two most well-known global certification schemes established to certify paper from responsibly managed forests. They verify the following standards are met: the need to preserve endangered species of animal and plant life, recognition of the needs and rights of the local population and ensuring traceability of the tree from ‘cradle’ to final consumption.
Vegetable- based Inks
Vegetable-based inks are less impactful on the environment, as the carrier is made from a more sustainable and natural source. When sustainably sourced, the plants used for the inks can promote the health of the natural world.
Paper Recycling
All paper waste, including printed offcuts is collected and recycled. Additionally, all printed office papers are collected for recycling.
Printing Plate Recycling
All plates are collected and recycled under a controlled waste agreement.
Waste Collection & Recycling
All other waste is collected and reprocessed accordingly.
Energy Watch
Power usage is carefully monitored throughout the premises and is a major consideration when purchasing new production equipment and Solar panels have been installed to offset our carbon footprint.
